This Sculptural Nature Basket is Anne McCauley at her most dramatic. Wild honeysuckle vine is gathered in Virginia and woven into a broad, starburst base, then framed with a sweeping, double-ring handle that winds and twists around the rim. Leaf forms tuck along the edge like small pauses in the line, turning the whole piece into a kind of drawing in space—light, airy, and full of movement. In wheat and honey tones, it reads as natural but not rustic, just as comfortable with marble and plaster as it is with old pine.
With its size and woven complexity, it’s a true statement piece. Lay it flat on a dining table piled with citrus, hang it on the wall as sculptural art, or lean it on a mantel where the open weave can cast shadows behind it. However you use it, this is less “basket” and more “nature study”—a gallery-scale object made from a plant Anne harvests herself.
