Hand-Hammered Fire Pokers

Sale price$160.00

Hand-forged fire pokers for evenings that linger around the embers

These fire pokers from Sea Island Forge were made for the evenings that stretch long after the last glass is poured. These fire pokers start as solid bar stock, then are heated and hammered into graceful, functional tools.

They have a comforting heft and a refined silhouette that fits right in beside a glowing kettle or brick hearth. Practical, beautif1ul, and built to be passed down, they turn the simple task of stoking the fire into part of the memory.

Craftsman Profile

Sea Island Forge

Steve Schoettle is the co-founder and lead metalsmith behind Sea Island Forge, a coastal Georgia studio devoted to heirloom-quality fire kettles and open-fire tools. After a long career in building and construction, Steve found himself increasingly pulled toward sculptural, functional ironwork. Together with his wife and co-founder, Sandy, he began reimagining the historic syrup kettles of the Southeast as modern gathering places—cast-iron “fire kettles” paired with forged stands, rails, and accessories that come together in a brilliantly designed system for outdoor grilling and entertaining.

Today, Steve leads a team of metalsmiths in Coastal Georgia, crafting fire kettles, fire tools, and even custom architectural ironwork that are designed to last for generations. At the heart of it all is a simple idea: the fire is a place to slow down, gather, and connect. Sea Island Forge pieces are built to be part of those moments—lit for oyster roasts, after-hunt suppers, and long evenings where stories linger long after the embers fade.
