Each dragonfly, cicada, beetle, and grasshopper is individually hand made by hand from a sheet of solid copper. Ben gives each its own personality and his hand-hammered finish gives each an organic feel.

Ben and Lael

Ben Caldwell is a classically trained artist whose journey into metalwork reflects a deep commitment to craftsmanship and tradition.

In 2001, Caldwell founded Ben & Lael Inc., a Nashville-based studio where he creates bespoke copper, silver, and enamel pieces. His work is characterized by hand-hammered, raised, and chased methods, often incorporating tools of his own design. Drawing inspiration from antique silverware and natural forms, his creations are both functional and artistic. Notably, his pieces have been commissioned as gifts for prominent figures, including a wedding gift for Amy Grant and Vince Gill and the governor of Tennessee.

Caldwell's dedication to preserving traditional metalsmithing has earned him recognition, such as the Tennessee Artists’ Guild’s “Emerging Artist of the Year” award.

Do you offer returns?

We aim for all our customers to be happy with their order, and do what it takes to make things right.
