Two leaves, worked in pale honeysuckle, curve across the front of this little round basket — laid over the darker weave beneath so they catch the light and lift off the surface. Anne Scarpa McCauley skins some of the vine and leaves the rest natural, and that difference is the whole design: light leaf, darker body, no dye anywhere in it.
It's a small, rounded shape — six inches — with an open lacework weave and a firm rolled rim. The pale honeysuckle will deepen toward gold as it sits in the light, which only sharpens the contrast over time.
Small enough for a shelf, a windowsill, the corner of a desk where you drop the things that don't have a home.
