Large Nature Bowl
A bowl inside a piece of sculpture.
A shallow bowl sits at the center, and around it Anne Scarpa McCauley has drawn a wide ring of vine that circles and crosses it, with woven leaves worked in where the two meet. It reads less like a basket than a drawing in honeysuckle.
The vine is wild, gathered in Virginia and used as it comes, pale where she has skinned it and russet where she hasn't. There is no dye and no finish, and the pale strands warm toward gold in the light. Fill the bowl with fruit and let the ring hold a few loose stems, or set it on a coffee table and leave it be. There is only one of each.
Bowls measure 19-20" in diameter.
