3.5" Orb Side Dish - Black

Sale price$14.00

This 3.5-inch piece is the perfect little mise en place dish for a pinch of any spice, seasoning, or salt. Serve dips, jams, and nuts on a charcuterie board, or place it on your dresser or counter to hold little treasures, like jewelry.  We enjoy using it to open up garlic by rubbing it on the surface before pouring oil for dipping to open up rich flavors.

Each piece is food safe + dishwasher safe; and while our wares are microwave safe, we recommend limiting their use in the microwave as it weakens them over time.

Handcrafted in Birmingham, Alabama.

Craftsman Profile

Civil Stoneware

Katherine Tucker is the founder and lead designer of Civil Stoneware, a Birmingham-based ceramics studio renowned for its minimalist, handmade pottery. With over 17 years of experience in ceramics, Tucker holds a fine arts and design degree from LaGrange College in Georgia. After graduating, she interned at the Birmingham Museum of Art, where she cataloged African and Pre-Columbian ceramics, deepening her appreciation for the cultural significance of pottery. In 2017, she launched Civil Stoneware in Birmingham’s Civil Rights District, drawing inspiration from the area's rich history and her own background in prop styling and production design. Her pieces are crafted to be both functional and aesthetically pleasing, often featuring matte finishes and earthy tones. Tucker believes that each handmade item carries the presence of its maker, creating a tangible connection between the artist and the user.

She collaborates with local artists, such as Tyra Robinson, to create pieces that support social causes, with a portion of proceeds benefiting institutions like the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute. Her commitment to community and craftsmanship has earned Civil Stoneware recognition, including a feature in Garden & Gun’s Made in the South Awards.
