Porcelain Oyster Shells

EMPTY DOM REMOVE PROTECTOR
Sale price$34.00

For salt, citrus, sauces — and everything in between.

As seen in the 2021 Southern Living Gift Guide, these hand-formed porcelain oyster shells are carved with shell marks and filled with sea glass.   They are made by hand in Memphis, each one individually formed and finished to feel as natural as the real thing. They’re food-safe and heat-safe (just not for direct flame), so they move easily from kitchen to table — holding mignonette, lemon wedges, sauces, or oysters themselves.

But what makes them indispensable is how often you reach for them. A pinch of salt by the stove. A resting place for citrus. Something small that quietly finishes a table.

They don’t ask for attention. They simply make everything around them feel more considered.

Craftsman Profile

Bridgman Pottery

Melissa is a ceramist in Memphis, TN and a graduate of the University of Mississippi’s Center for the Study of Southern Culture. Her work exemplifies the very...Southern idea expressed by another notable UMiss grad that “the past isnt dead...it isn’t even past.” In our own experience, pieces like her deviled egg plates take us back to family reunions by the lake and Sunday afternoon dinners after church.

Melissa has said of her own work "The idea of hospitality plays a huge role in how I see my work being used, and I want everyday life to feel as special as the celebratory occasions we usually save our nice things for."

Her beautiful pieces have appeared in Garden and Gun, Southern Living, and Southern Home magazines.

Memphis ceramist Melissa Bridgman's food-safe porcelain oyster shells are thoughtful vessels for serving seafood or mignonette sauces.

There's something appealing about the simplicity of Melissa Bridgman's pottery...that seems to blend the primitive style of handcrafters of yesterday with the refinement you might find in your grandmother's china cabinet.
