Oval Serving Platter

Sale price$57.00

This is Civil Stoneware's Oval Server - it's perfect for charcuterie, buffet-style appetizers, and serving up your prized bird for the holidays! Use it to decorate in any room of your home, or put it work in your kitchen or on your table.

These platters' finishes make them distinctive without compromising practicality. Even with a matte finish, don't worry about food or oil absorbing into the surface, it all comes right out in the dishwasher! The clay is fully vitrified but the matte finish of the clay will temporarily absorb water. Don’t stress, it will quickly air dry!

These plates will elevate your dining experience by making foods' colors and textures pop in contrast with their unique finishes.

Each piece is food safe + dishwasher safe; and while our wares are microwave safe, we recommend limiting their use in the microwave as it weakens them over time.

Craftsman Profile

Civil Stoneware

Katherine Tucker is the founder and lead designer of Civil Stoneware, a Birmingham-based ceramics studio renowned for its minimalist, handmade pottery. With over 17 years of experience in ceramics, Tucker holds a fine arts and design degree from LaGrange College in Georgia. After graduating, she interned at the Birmingham Museum of Art, where she cataloged African and Pre-Columbian ceramics, deepening her appreciation for the cultural significance of pottery. In 2017, she launched Civil Stoneware in Birmingham’s Civil Rights District, drawing inspiration from the area's rich history and her own background in prop styling and production design. Her pieces are crafted to be both functional and aesthetically pleasing, often featuring matte finishes and earthy tones. Tucker believes that each handmade item carries the presence of its maker, creating a tangible connection between the artist and the user.

She collaborates with local artists, such as Tyra Robinson, to create pieces that support social causes, with a portion of proceeds benefiting institutions like the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute. Her commitment to community and craftsmanship has earned Civil Stoneware recognition, including a feature in Garden & Gun’s Made in the South Awards.
